What a day in Ocean City...sparkling sun, clear roadways, piles of white snow. The city plows worked all night moving the snowbanks back to make room for this weekend's influx of visitors. Downtown, workers on ATVs with mini-plows have been clearing Asbury Avenue parking spaces one by one as cars move in and out. The side streets, particularly in the North End where many year-round residents have left their cars on the street, are only a lane and half wide with big snowbanks, so plan accordingly. The good news is that clearing the piles from the ends of the driveways won't be bad as the newer stuff is a lot lighter than Saturday's wet snow. As of noon, Boardwalk merchants were clearing around their store entrances, and the city will be clearing a path on the boardwalk from 6th to 12th or 14th Street before the weekend. Don't forget to walk up and take a look while you are here. Those looking for summer rentals will find it tough slogging through the snow, so high boots are recommended. We got only about 6" net from this latest storm thanks to warm air off the ocean that left us with mostly rain till 2 pm yesterday. The 9th St bridge may still be closed...it has been shut down at the start of each storm and only opened once all of the snow is removed. When it is closed, there is no toll on the Longport Bridge.
Think about coming to town this weekend....much less snow than inland, and twice as pretty!
