The wind was off the ocean most of the night, keeping temperatures in the high 30s and bringing rain. Tuesday we hit 43 degrees, which melted the snow and ice that had encased a lot of the overhead wires in town, and the rain changed to snow about 2 pm today. Wet and slushy. The street gutters have about 6 inches of slushy water in them, so if you are coming to town, wear your high boots!
Customers have been calling to ask if we have lost power (no), if it is worth coming to town to look for summer rentals (bring a shovel because you will have to dig your way to the door of each property), and what's going on. Today, because we had light rain most of the day, many shops stayed open most of the day. We went to Home Depot and Sam's Club to pick up supplies and they were moderately busy at midday. Most realtors' offices, including Monihan Realty, were closed today, as were all of the schools.
The biggest issue you will have if you come to town before all the snow is cleaned up is finding a place to park. The city has plowed most roads only a minimal two lanes wide, and the two-foot snow boulders between there and the curb means nowhere to park on the street. If you have a driveway, you will have some digging to do to get to it. Check out the attached pictures taken today to see what the roads look like. Meanwhile, go online and find your rental, or e-mail me to help you find your dream house for sale!
